Description

BareGPS Ireland is a hillwalking and mountain navigation app designed for exploring, recording, and logging hills across Ireland. Built around Irish hill data and lists, the app helps you see hills on a live map, track your walks, manage GPX files, and keep useful hill information close at hand while you are out on the ground. Features: - View hills across Ireland on live maps. - Switch between OpenTopo, OpenStreetMap, and Satellite map layers. - Show your live position, heading, elevation, and grid reference. - Record GPX tracks during your walks. - Import, save, reopen, rename, delete, export, and share GPX files. - Use Go To Hill navigation with live distance, bearing, heading, and on-map guidance. - Cache map areas in advance for use in places with weak or unreliable signal. - Filter hills by classification or height. - Mark hills as logged and review your logged hill list. - Search and manage logged hills quickly. - Customise hill marker colours and track colours. - Choose metric or imperial display units. - Choose north-up or heads-up map orientation. - Use Local 100 to work from either your current position or a chosen grid reference. Designed for Irish Hillwalking: BareGPS Ireland is built specifically around Irish hill use. It combines mapping, location, logging, GPX handling, and hill classification tools in one app, with quick access to the information most useful when planning or walking. The app also links directly to MountainViews hill pages for additional hill detail, route ideas, and related information. GPX and Offline Use: BareGPS Ireland supports full GPX workflows, including recording your own track, importing tracks from elsewhere, and saving or sharing tracks when needed. Offline map caching can help before a walk in areas where mobile coverage may be weak or inconsistent. Location Use Location access is used only for app features that need it, including showing your position, Go To navigation, grid reference display, and GPX recording. Background location is used only during active GPX recording so your walk can continue to be recorded while the app is minimised or the screen is locked. Users permission is required in all instances.
