Your favorite sites, one click away — right inside Safari. Essentials is a Safari extension that adds a toolbar button with a grid of the websites you actually use, organized into color-coded spaces you define yourself. Work, Personal, Reading, anything. Click any tile to jump to that site; matching tabs are reused, new ones open as needed. What it does • Up to 48 sites per space, across as many as 10 spaces. • Drag tiles to reorder. Drag onto a different space's dot to move them. • Drag any URL from anywhere into the popup to add it. • Right-click a tile for the context menu — edit, move, delete, or open in a new tab. • Plain click finds an existing matching tab in any window, or opens a new one. Cmd-click always opens a new tab. Option-click replaces the current tab. • Cmd-Shift-E toggles the popup (configurable in Safari Settings). Once open, Option 1–9 opens the Nth essential on the current page; Control 1–9 switches to space N. iCloud sync Your spaces, sites, and layout sync to your other Macs through your own iCloud account. Optional — sync can be turned off entirely in Settings if you'd rather keep everything on one device. We don't run any servers and never see your data. Native and quiet No telemetry. No analytics. No third-party SDKs. Built in TypeScript and Swift to feel like part of Safari. Dark mode, vibrancy, native macOS aesthetic. Privacy Everything stays on your devices, either local-only or in your private iCloud container — your choice. The app fetches favicons directly from the destination sites and from Google's public favicon service as a fallback; those requests come from your browser, not from servers we operate.
