Description
GeoStill is a calm, contemplative view of Earth's natural events, drawn from public scientific data and rendered onto a single 3D globe. No tabs, no menus to chase — the planet quietly updates as new events come in. WHAT YOU'LL SEE • Earthquakes from the USGS feed, color-coded and sized by magnitude • Active EONET events: storms, wildfires, volcanoes, floods, sea and lake ice, drought, dust and haze, landslides, snow, temperature extremes, manmade events, water color • Geomagnetic activity from NOAA SWPC (Kp readings, refreshed every 15 minutes), drawn as auroral caps that grow and brighten with storm strength • Your local conditions — city, time, current weather — in the header • Tap any marker for a detail panel with source, magnitude or category, and a link back to the official record INSIDE THE APP • Home Screen widget showing the count of active events worldwide • Live Activities for severe storms you pin — the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island stay updated as the storm progresses, and stop on their own when the event closes • Siri Shortcuts: ask to show earthquakes, storms, volcanoes, or wildfires and the globe filters for you • Share an event from its detail panel • Ambient mode on iPad — a triple-tap full-bleed view with no chrome, ideal for a stand or kitchen counter • Settings to filter the globe, choose units, and manage pinned storms PRIVACY GeoStill collects no personal data. No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The app does not request Location, Notifications, Camera, Photos, or any other iOS permission — every layer renders from public data fetched over HTTPS. Geolocation for the local-conditions chip is IP-based and never sent to or stored by us. Full per-service disclosure in the in-app About and Privacy pages.
