HearthTape helps you sit down with someone you love, record their story, and return to it later. Made for adults collecting family memories, it keeps the original voice together with the details that give a story meaning. START A CONVERSATION Choose from 12 conversation starters with follow-up questions, or record freely. Capture a take of up to 10 minutes, pause when you need a break, and listen before saving. Keep an unfinished take as a draft to review later. KEEP THE CONTEXT Give each story a title, add the speaker's name, and write background notes about the people, place or occasion. Organize recordings into collections and edit their details whenever you need to. FIND A STORY AGAIN Search titles, speakers, questions and background notes. Filter your voice recordings or browse by title and date to find the memory you came back for. RETURN TO A PARTICULAR MOMENT Name a timestamp while listening, then find and replay it from Saved moments. Each recording remembers its playback position. Use the progress control or 15-second jumps to move through a story. BRING YOUR EXISTING RECORDINGS Import MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF and CAF files from Files. HearthTape keeps its own copy so you can organize older recordings alongside new stories. KEEP A COPY WITH ITS NOTES Export a recording or imported file to Files as complete audio, or include a readable text file with the title, speaker, question, background and saved-moment times. The text preserves the details you entered; it is not an automatic transcript or a restorable library backup. LOCAL AND PERSONAL No account, ads or subscriptions. HearthTape does not automatically upload your recordings or notes. Recording and listening to audio already stored in the app work offline; a Files provider may need internet access to download an import or sync an exported copy. The interface and conversation starters are currently in English. Record only with the speaker's permission and import audio you are entitled to use. There is no automatic cloud backup or sync, and app data is excluded from system backups. Export important recordings and notes before deleting the app, as deleting it removes the copies stored inside it.
