Description
⏺ Jelly — macOS Jellyfin Client A native macOS client for Jellyfin servers, built with SwiftUI. Quality of playback (especially HDR video and bit-perfect audio) is the design priority. Video - Browse movies and TV libraries as a poster grid (2:3 aspect, with 4K/HDR/Dolby Vision badges). - Series detail view groups episodes by season. - Playback uses libmpv embedded via render API + CAOpenGLLayer (IINA-style). HDR, 10-bit, hardware decoding. - Resume from saved position; progress is reported back to the server. - Subtitles and audio track selection through the in-player HUD. Music (macOS-only, bit-perfect pipeline) - Music libraries open into a segmented Albums / Artists control. - Albums grid: square covers, album-artist subtitle. - Album detail: cover, title, artist, year, track count, total duration, community rating (when present), genres, multi-disc grouping with "Disc N" headers, per-track artist shown when it differs from the album artist (compilations / collaborations). - Artists grid: album-artist roster with circular photos. - Artist detail: photo, name, album count, and that artist's albums sorted by year. - Playlists: grid and detail view that preserves Jellyfin's insertion order. - Playback engine: CoreAudio HAL with hog mode, sample-rate switching per track (verified bit-perfect via DAC LED), float32 frames straight to the device's IOProc. The signal is never resampled or volume-attenuated in software — volume is the DAC's job. - Settings panel (Cmd+,): choose output device, toggle exclusive mode, see device details (manufacturer, channels, format, max sample rate). Now Playing - Sticky strip docked to the bottom of the main window (via safeAreaInset); only visible when something is loaded. - Cover, track name, status (preparing / playing / paused / error). - Clickable / draggable progress slider with live time readout. Drag updates only locally; seek fires once on release so the device's position-update timer doesn't fight the thumb. - Play/pause/stop controls. - Coexistence with video: starting video stops music (releases HAL hog mode); the reverse path surfaces a clear "audio device busy" state. Home Shown when no library is selected. Four sections load in parallel via async let: 1. Continue Watching — getResumeItems, video only, with a thin progress bar overlaid on each poster. 2. Recently Added — movies and series. 3. Recently Added Albums — square album cards. 4. Recommendations — Jellyfin's similarity engine (similar to recently played, shared director, shared actor, etc.), flattened across categories and deduplicated. Search - .searchable field docked in the toolbar. - 300 ms debounce — typing doesn't hammer the server. - Searches across movies, series, episodes, box sets, albums, and individual tracks. - Albums route to the album detail; tracks play directly via the music player; everything else routes to its appropriate detai
