Hi, I'm Tim - producer, songwriter and musician with fifteen-plus years on worship records and a few hundred million streams behind them, plus a long run as music director at a big church. I built Ambience because the joy and the chaos of running a Sunday platform aren't theory to me. I've been the guy playing keys, MD-ing the band, running everyone's in-ears, liaising with broadcast, and trying to make the room sound like a record out front - all while keeping half an eye on whether the team's alright and the pastor's got what they need. The kit I wish I had didn't exist. So I made it. Norcoast Ambience is a generative instrument built around five voices: a deep Foundation pad, a chord-rich Pads layer, an octave-up Texture, an Arp that floats over the top, and a Movement layer of soft percussion with built-in reverb. You shape the harmony with the chord buttons, push and pull the layer mix, drift through colours with Evolve, or freeze the room in place with Static. Everything responds in real time. Everything fades smoothly. Nothing clicks. I wanted it to feel like a real instrument, not a player. So: — Full MIDI input over USB, Bluetooth, and network MIDI. Plug in a controller and the app picks it up automatically; tap "Pair MIDI device" inside the app for the iOS Bluetooth sheet. External MIDI clock is supported in both directions, so you can sync the app's tempo to the band's click or send midi clock out to the bands guitar pedals. — Map the chord buttons to MIDI notes and play it like any other synth. Map any other control to a CC with Learn - tap once, move a knob, done. — Every layer has its own volume. Five layers of synthesis from scratch: granular textures, chord-aware pad voices, a 16-step Movement sequencer with three drum voices and immersive reverb, an Arp with three voicings (Bloom, Hush, Glow). Four-band parametric EQ on the master, a global filter, chorus, delay, and shimmer reverb. — Save patches as Setlist items. They sync between your devices through iCloud automatically - no account, no sign-up, no internet connection required. iPhone, iPad and Mac all share the same library. — No analytics, no tracking, no telemetry, no remote requests. The app is fully self-contained. You don't need an account, you don't need a connection, and nothing about how you use it leaves your device. Norcoast Ambience is made for the musicians I made it for first: worship leaders, keys players covering transitions, MDs holding a room together, worship teams who need an evolving bed under the moments that matter.
