Description

Splits Studio is a focused macOS app for cutting any video into its scenes — automatically. Whether you're prepping b-roll for an editor, building a storyboard from a long take, or pulling thumbnails from a recording, Splits Studio takes you from full video to clip-ready folder in one drop. How it works Drop a clip into the window. Splits Studio walks the source frame by frame, detects the cuts, and writes a clean folder of outputs — one MP4 per scene, a JPG of each scene boundary, or one animated GIF per scene. Pick which formats you want; it produces them all in a single pass. Scene detection, your way • Sensitivity (1–100%) — how aggressive the cut detector is • Min scene length (0.5–20s) — shorter scenes merge into the next • Group duration (1–90s) — packs adjacent scenes into practical chunks • Group similar — on for chunked output, off for every detected cut Outputs • MP4 per scene (H.264 + AAC; Keep Audio toggle for silent exports) • JPG per scene boundary — ideal for storyboards and thumbnails • Animated GIF per scene — quick previews • Choose 540p / 720p / 1080p, or keep the source resolution • Each job writes to its own subfolder, named after the source video Batch ready • Drag in dozens of files at once — they queue up automatically • Live counts of queued / processing / completed / failed • Cancel the active job without losing the rest of the queue Private by design • All processing happens on your Mac — videos never leave the device • No analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs • Privacy manifest declares zero collected data Native macOS • SwiftUI interface, full Light and Dark mode • Apple Silicon and Intel native (universal binary) • Hardware-accelerated encoding via VideoToolbox • Sandboxed; writes only to folders you pick or to your Downloads folder Compatibility • Input: MOV, MP4, M4V, AVI, MKV, WebM, TS, MTS — anything AVFoundation can decode • Output: MP4 (H.264 + AAC), JPG, GIF • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or newer
