Description

Vapor is a one-word-a-day journal. Every day, write the word that captures how you feel. Add a 280-character note if the day demands one. The whole ritual takes thirty seconds. Over time, those single words become a portrait of who you are. The breath before the word. Each day, before you write, Vapor pauses. A breathing horizon. Recent words drifting past. Tap when you're ready, or skip it entirely. The pause is yours. See yourself across time. The Calendar shows every word you've written, month by month. Older entries fade gently the further back they go. The Words screen builds a slowly-evolving cloud of your most-used words and a top 10 of how you've been feeling. Search across your full history. Your inner weather. Soul Weather reads your recent words and writes you a forecast: "fog burning off", "the front, sharper", "the wind, ongoing". A glyph, a phrase, a 7-day retrospective. Hand-written, line by line. No AI in the lexicon. Write to your future self. Seal today's word and a short letter to your future self. Lock the pair for a week, a month, a year. When the date arrives, your past self meets your present self. You've shown up. When you write multiple days in a row, Vapor counts. But the framing is "you've shown up." Past tense. Kind. No streak panic, no notification nags, no AI coach. Consistency that's celebrated, not weaponised. Honest about its limits. Vapor is a mirror, not therapy. It ships with crisis resources for 50 countries, always offline, never logged. There's no AI crisis detection. We considered it and decided against it: a model watching for distress would break the local-only privacy stance, and false positives in a journaling context are particularly bad. If you're going through something, please talk to someone real. Why it stays on your phone. Your interior life belongs to you. Vapor stores everything locally in SQLite and Keychain. No accounts. No cloud. No analytics. No tracking. The only network calls are optional dictionary lookups (English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Chinese) — the user-typed word goes out, nothing else.
