Description

Think you can break the code? Welcome to WhatsCode — a retro handheld puzzle experience that turns your iPhone into a pocket code-breaking device. Inspired by the classic Mastermind formula but reimagined with tactile dial controls, satisfying drag-and-drop mechanics, and a chunky industrial aesthetic that feels like a lost gadget from the 90s. The Mission Your goal is simple: decode a secret 4-item sequence before your time runs out. You have 7 attempts. After every guess, you receive intel — green means correct item and position, white means correct item but wrong position, and silence means it is not in the code at all. Use logic, pattern recognition, and a little intuition to narrow the possibilities and crack the lock. Two Ways to Play Solo Mode — Face off against the AI with level-based progression. Climb from Recruit to Legendary across Easy, Normal, and Hard difficulties. Each difficulty changes the palette size and feedback style. Dual Mode — Two players, one device. Player 1 sets a secret code, then hands the device to Player 2 to crack it. Perfect for commutes, road trips, or coffee-break rivalries. 7 Visual Themes Why stick to colors alone? Unlock and swap between Classic, Pixel Fruit, Cute Cat, Cute Dog, Fast Food, Fruit, and Vegetables. Each theme transforms the entire board with hand-picked icons that bring fresh personality to every mission. Built for Depth Three difficulty tiers — Easy (limited palette, positional hints), Normal (full palette, positional hints), and Hard (full palette, count-only aggregate hints). Fixed slots — Long-press any filled slot to lock it in place across future guesses. Drag & drop — Swap items between slots, or copy a previous row down to iterate faster. Hint system — Stuck? Spend a hint to reveal whether a specific item is in the code or even its exact position. Optional timer — Set a time limit for added pressure, or disable it and play at your own pace. Interactive tutorial — A 13-step guided walkthrough teaches every control on first launch. No ads. No subscriptions. Just you versus the code.
